We age in all kinds of ways. One of the most telling signs of age in our Bay Area patients is the eyes. Tired-looking eyes come in many different forms, and now we have several modalities to treat eyes to keep our patients looking refreshed and rested.
Common Tired Eye Concerns
Each patient and each patient’s eyes age differently, which is why we may suggest different treatment plans for different eye concerns. Below are the most common areas of concern when it comes to eye rejuvenation:
- Dark under-eye circles
- Prominent under-eye bags
- Drooping upper eyelids
- Drooping brows
- Under-eye hollowing
If eye rejuvenation for tired eyes is something you are interested in, make sure to book a consultation with one of our experienced providers.
At-Home Care for Tired Eyes
We all want to treat our eyes in the comfort of our own home, which means… eye creams. Eye creams have been popular for years, claiming to help with dark circles and rejuvenation. Eye creams can be a solution for some patients, but they really only target discoloration.
When it comes to choosing an eye cream, you cannot go wrong with medical grade products. You can ask your provider which one is best for your skin type and concerns. Some of our favorites are the SkinMedica Instant Eye Bright, SkinBetter Science Eye Max, and the Jan Marini Transformation Eye Cream. Eye creams supplement a daily skincare regimen nicely, but the results are subtle.
Nonsurgical Options for Tired Eyes
Botox
When it comes to treating eyes nonsurgically, there are several options to choose from. If you are concerned with drooping brows, a Botox brow lift can help. This just requires a couple units of Botox, but it is commonly used for beauty enhancement opposed to extreme correction.
PRP Injections
The right candidate can benefit from PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections in the under eye region. PRP is great for boosting collagen and brightening the natural skin. This modality can help with hollowness as well as some discoloration.
Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common solution for patients concerned with the appearance of their under eyes. This is attractive because of its immediate and robust results. This treatment has definitely become a trend in the Bay Area community, but it is important to note that not everyone is the right candidate for under eye filler.
Filler in the under eye area is referred to as tear trough filler, and is sometimes paired with filler in the cheek. This allows for the tear trough filler to have the support it needs to provide a stunning result.
Adding volume to the hollow tear trough adds more volume which eliminates the appearance of sunken eyes. This treatment is especially popular for tech executives within the Bay Area.
Surgical Options for Tired Eyes
The ultimate game changing procedure for eyes is the blepharoplasty. A blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids. An upper blepharoplasty targets the extra skin on the top eyelid. By removing excess skin and fat pads in the upper eyelid, allows for more of the eye to shine and improve one’s appearance. This procedure can be done in-office, so the patient is under local anesthesia and has a short downtime.
A lower blepharoplasty removes the under eye bags for rejuvenation purposes. This surgical procedure has transformative results as it eliminates the eye bags completely from the patient, giving them a refreshed look. We have some amazing before and after photos that showcase Drs. L&P’s work. This procedure is oftentimes complimented with a limited fat transfer to restore volume in the face.
If the brows are a concern a surgical brow lift compliments other facial procedures and does wonders in isolation. Many think a surgical brow lift will give a surprised look, but Drs. L&P put great detail into making the patient look natural and rejuvenated.
What is the Best Treatment?
Eye rejuvenation can be achieved in many ways for particular concerns. The most remarkable and long lasting results will always be tied to surgical procedures. Blepharoplasties and Brow Lifts are top-tier procedures, but filler, Botox, and PRP injections are great for specific candidates that are not ready for surgery.
