What is Platelet Rich Fibrin and PRF EZ Gel?

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and PRF EZ Gel, relatively new but highly effective and very safe regenerative medicine techniques, are now being offered at our Palo Alto and Los Gatos med spa clinics. Both PRF and PRF EZ Gel harness your body’s own healing resources for natural and beautiful skin rejuvenation.

These therapies utilize enriched fibrin matrices derived from your own blood. They deliver a concentrated blend of growth factors and platelets, which can then stimulate tissue repair, collagen production, and cellular regeneration for beautifully rejuvenated skin texture, tone, and volume.

What Is The Difference Between PRF and PRF EZ GEL?

PRF involves taking a small sample of your own blood, processing it to separate the platelet-rich fibrin, and then applying the PRF in its natural form to your skin.

PRF EZ GEL is a thicker, more robust form of PRF and includes mixing the extracted PRF with a gel-like substance, creating a convenient and easy-to-apply formula. The EZ Gel facilitates smoother application and deeper penetration of the growth factors into your skin, which ultimately enhances its effectiveness.

The providers at L&P Aesthetics can use both PRF and PRF EZ Gel in any part of the face where you have volume loss or need skin rejuvenation. It is a great alternative for those who do not want regular HA fillers injected, but still want the volumizing effects of dermal fillers and biostimulating effects of Sculptra.

How is PRF EZ Gel used in cosmetic procedures?

PRF EZ Gel offers a range of benefits for many aesthetic concerns and is commonly used in cosmetic procedures such as facials, microneedling, and nonsurgical hair restoration. PRF EZ Gel can be injected directly into the skin or mixed with other substances like hyaluronic acid to enhance its effects. Here are some of the most common applications of PRF in cosmetic procedures:

  • Facial rejuvenation: PRF can be used to improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote overall skin health.
  • Scar revision and acne scarring: PRF can help reduce the appearance of scars from acne, injury, or surgery.
  • Hair restoration: PRF can stimulate hair growth and improve the thickness and density of hair in areas of hair loss or thinning.
  • Lip enhancement: PRF can be used to enhance the shape, volume, and definition of the lips.
  • Hand rejuvenation: PRF can improve the appearance of aging hands by reducing the visibility of veins and tendons and improving skin quality.

It’s important to note that while PRF and EZ gel are effective treatments for a variety of cosmetic concerns, the best treatment options will depend on your individual goals, unique personal anatomy, and medical history. Always consult with one of the qualified medical professionals at L&P Aesthetics to determine the most appropriate treatment pathway.

Is PRF EZ Gel Safe?

PRF and PRF EZ Gel are considered safe for almost everyone, including people with autoimmune disorders and other health issues. Because it is autologous, PRF also significantly reduces the risk of allergic reaction. Possible side effects are rare but can include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection site, but these are usually temporary.

What is the difference between PRP and PRF?

While Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and PRF share the foundation of utilizing platelet-rich components, they differ in their application methods and benefits.

While PRP has proven very successful for enhancing microneedling treatments, PRF is considered the next generation of PRP. Fibrin is what platelets bind to as they circulate through your blood. When platelets bind to fibrin, they release growth factors that help start the healing process by creating new collagen, blood vessels, and skin cells.

PRF can be more effective because it gives patients the same benefits as PRP while also releasing more growth factors over time, so it will continue to work for several weeks after the procedure is done.

How Is EZ PRF Different From Other Injectables?

One of the most frequently asked questions is the difference between PRF and dermal fillers. Not only does PRF come from your own body, but it gradually releases growth factors into the skin over time, which results in increased collagen production. Traditional dermal fillers simply replace lost volume using hyaluronic acid.

Another difference is that PRF EZ Gel is unique in its versatility to treat multiple conditions at once. It restores lost volume similar to that of dermal fillers such as Juvederm® and Restylane®  and encourages new collagen like the biostimulator Sculptra®.

How long does PRF EZ Gel last?

PRF and EZ Gel provide volume that lasts anywhere from three to six months, but the benefits of both continue to work and rebuild your elastin and collagen for up to a year. Usually, the providers at L&P Aesthetics will recommend that after the initial treatment, you maintain your results with annual treatments.
